2012 Platforms for the Board of Trustees
Posted: April 9, 2012

Brothers -

Below are the Board of Trustees platforms for those who are running.  Voting, if necessary, will take place at the annual meeting April 21st.

Josh Fogarty (‘12)

Brothers -

You are reading this today because I am applying for a position on the Iota Zeta Board of Trustees. I am applying for a position for many reasons. The primary reason why I am applying for a position is due to the fact that I want a continued commitment to our chapter. I was initiated fall of my Junior year so up until this point I have only had two years in our chapter. I feel like in those two years I have not provided as much to the chapter as I had wished and I see this as my opportunity to continue giving back to the chapter. The other main reason why I am applying for a position is because I want to remain involved with the undergraduate chapter. Throughout my undergraduate experience I have dealt with our alumni counterparts a fair amount and it is safe to say that our chapter would not be as good of a chapter as it is without our alumni. I personally would like to be one of these alumni counterparts that will be involved with the undergraduate chapter in order to cultivate and maintain the chapter as it grows and expands. I will keep it brief and only list these two main reasons as to why I’m applying but there are many more. From the deepest corners of my heart I can safely sat that I would be able to bring a strong work ethic and creative ideas to the Iota Zeta Board of Trustees.

Chris Marinucci (‘96)

I’d would like to continue my work coordinating construction details for the new Greek Row house with the board of trustees.

Shawn  Doolen (‘09)

Brothers -

I am running again this year for the board of trustees. If elected, I will re-dedicate myself to working creatively and with a consistent drive to improve the rate of alumni fulfilling their fiscal responsibilities by paying lifetime dues, remembering that brotherhood does not end with the undergraduate years, and commitment to lifelong learning.Along with that, I will continue to build and strengthen the relationship we have with Clarkson University by maintaining my network of Clarkson administrators, attending GAC meetings, and working with the alumni office to communicate and plan Iota Zeta alumni events including Pig Roast, a Sigma Chi event during the Clarkson summer reunion, and our upcoming 25 year anniversary.I would like to maintain my role on the Greek House design committee working with the university to bridge the gap with our alumni at large and bring this project to completion in the Spring of 2013.

In hoc - Shawn Doolen aka Dooley Bear

Ryan Rosiek (‘04)

I would like to continue to serve the Board of Trustees in hope of seeing our Iota Zeta chapter house dream realized. I also plan on further improvement of our website enabling better communication.

Kevin Lobdell (‘06):

I am concluding my first year on the board and am looking to be re-elected.  During this past year I have began cross-training for the treasurer position with Brother Matteson as he wants to phase out his involvement from the board and I have also taken the lead in developing the fundraising plan for the new house on campus.  If elected, this next year I plan on working with my fundraising team to execute the plan and with board approval will assume the duties of the Treasurer position in collaboration with Brother Matteson until I get well versed with all of the duties.

In hoc,
Lobdell

Jeremy Ganse (‘99)

Having served this past year as the Strategic Planning Chairman, I plan to continue expanding upon our mission through the Greek Housing Initiative with Clarkson.  “The purpose of the Iota Zeta Alumni Association is to develop and maintain a positive relationship between Clarkson University, the Sigma Chi International Fraternity, the active undergraduate chapter, and Iota Zeta Alumni.”  Part of my responsibilities will include developing and executing a fundraising campaign in conjunction with Clarkson University that will allow for tax deductible gifts to the University restricted for Sigma Chi use.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Ganse

Robert Michaud (‘90)

It has been an honor and pleasure to serve with you on the Board of Trustees for the past 3 years.  I would like to be re-considered for this position again this coming year.  I have worked hard to improve communications between the undergrads and alumni, primarily through the “Bridge Builder” newsletter.  I think there is still more that can be done and I would like the opportunity to do so.  I plan to continue my work with the newsletter and to use the other media at my disposal to improve communications, increase alumni involvement and to help support our Brotherhood any way I can.
I thank you for your support in advance.

In Hoc,
Robert Michaud ‘90 “Fish”

Rich Malcolm (‘93)

I would like to continue serving the alumni as a Trustee and maintaining the corporations documentations and correspondence as the Secretary.  Additionally, I look forward to providing input regarding the design and construction process for the new house as it progresses.

Malcolm

Nick Cruden (‘10)

I would like to continue serving the Board of Trustees and my involvement as Property Manager.

Calling for Platforms
Posted: March 8, 2012

Brothers -

I know this is the email you’ve all been waiting for: an opportunity to join the Board of Trustees.  It’s that time of year again when we’ll be voting on new members during Pig Roast, April 21st.  The board meets the second Tuesday of every month at 9pm EST via conference call.  The calls usually don’t last more than an hour.

Use this opportunity to give back to the house as an alumni.  If you enjoy dealing with Clarkson and clogged toilets, please submit a platform (just a short paragraph stating your intentions) to me by April 1st.

In Hoc,

Rosiek

Father Harry Giroux Enters Chapter Eternal - All Honor to His Name
Posted: February 15, 2012

Brothers,

It is with a heavy heart that we pass along an email from Father Garry Giroux to Bob Kerr about the passing of his identical twin and our beloved Sigma Chi Brother Father Harry Giroux. We are planning on honoring his life with a White Rose Ceremony. More information will follow.

For those who may not have known Father Harry, Bob Kerr has provided some history about him.

Fr. Harry Giroux was initiated with us when we became Iota Zeta back in 1988.  He was a priest at the SLU Newman Center and was going to be their Chapter Advisor and so was initiated with us. Many don’t know that he had a twin brother, Garry, who was also a priest.  Harry developed Alzheimer’s disease and Garry took care of him over the last 6 years.  Harry passed away last night and below is the text from Garry:

“Harry died last evening.  I was with him right to the end of his life on this side.  As twins, Harry was born before me—so I guess he had to forge a path even in death before me.  It’s hard to think of life now without my “other half” on this side with me.  While my heart is breaking, my Faith in Christ gives the hope and joy that will heal the sorrow.  Thanks for your prayerful support.  The funeral Mass is going to be on Tues, feb 21, at 11am at St Mary’s in Massena, NY.  Keep the repose of Harry’s soul in your prayer, please. Father Harry Giroux is in our thoughts and prayers.
